Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

Tomorrows Full Moon Lunar Eclipse happens at 27 degrees Taurus at 00:57 pst on Friday November 19th, 2021

This energies of this cosmic event are reflected back to us through the Tarot in The Hierophant (Taurus) , The Empress (Venus) , Death (Scorpio) , Judgment (Pluto).

Eclipses are when the sun & the moon cross over the lunar nodes at the same time. When the sun & the moon meet at the same node, a solar eclipse occurs. If you’ve ever experienced a solar eclipse you’ll know they are pretty big physical events. The moon moving directly in between the earth & the sun is an eerie sight. Animals become quiet, nature seems to hold still.

When the sun & the moon cross over the nodes at opposite ends we experience a lunar eclipse. The earth then sits between the two, casting a red shadow across the surface of the moon by blocking the sun. Eclipses are big physical events yes, but also massive energetic ones. They propel us into whatever energies they are sitting in, where a typical full moon gives us time to consider & integrate, Eclipses..well they don’t really.

So what does tomorrows Lunar Eclipse have in store for us? Let’s take a look at the energies through the lens of the Tarot..

So, the sun is currently sitting in the deep, penetrating sign of Scorpio. Shining its light on & across the earth, where it then bounces back off the moon, who’s hanging out in steadfast Taurus.

In Scorpio we get to explore the deepest parts of our being. The mysterious & taboo. Scorpio is extremely curious, with a nack’ for detective work.   

Taurus however wants to be above ground, where it's sturdy, enjoying life’s tangible luxuries. Taurus loves to feel safe, & makes sure that their actions support their wellbeing. Scorpio threatens this experience with their desire to dive deep into the underbelly of our subconsciousness & bring light to the darkest parts of our being, for fun. 

Taurus is The Hierophant, ruled by Venus, The Empress. Scorpio is The Death card, ruled by Pluto, the Judgment card. 

Hierophant is an ancient Greek word that translates to one who initiates or translates the sacred mysteries. This card encourages us to look at where we are learning from. Is the source in alignment with who we are & what we want to experience in this life? It can also nudge us to get into a new learning environment where we can expand our current understanding of the world. For this lunar eclipse, the moon resides in Taurus, who is directly linked to the Hierophant. Where in your life do you desire to know more? Is there someone you are wanting to learn from? Or a subject you want to study more? Something that you just feel will enhance your life. Investing in yourself is never a bad idea, trust the guidance in your life, no matter where it takes you. 

Taurus is ruled by Venus, The Empress, and she represents a powerful feminine force of creativity & fertility. Her womb was regarded as the entire earth, her children being the editable fruits & vegetables of the land. She is linked to the full moon, for its swollen illumination & influence of creation. Her wisdom is that of creation. While I don’t encourage manifestation work around the eclipses, allow the Empress to illuminate what you create every single day by taking a closer look at your daily habits & rituals. Are you moving in alignment with you deepest desires? 

The sun is currently sitting in Scorpio, represented by the Death card, which simply allows us to let go. The Death card in the Tarot is known to invoke fear onto the novice reader, we see the word death & take it literally, but this card is one of my favorites to see in a reading. It is the permission you are looking for to let go of whatever it is that is holding you back. In one of my favorite decks this card is depicted as a man, laying on the ground with thick chains across his body. He feels trapped under the chains, his head in cradled in his hands in despair. What he doesn't see however, is that the chains aren’t actually attached to anything. All he has to do is lift his head out of his hands & see that he can pull the chains off his body & stand up. We get really attached to our pain, we begin to identify with it, so allow this card to give you permission to become radically honest with the parts of your identity you’ve attached to in an un-serving way. 

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, who is represented by the Judgement card, which encourages us to take a look at the decisions we are making. It offers a moment for us to consider where we might be making the wrong decisions, or why we are afraid of making alternative decisions. Pluto is the planet of transformation & this card is here to remind you that transformation comes from decisions. 

These four cards work together to bring a deeper awareness of where we are, where we want to go, & how we are going to get there.

Hierophant: Where in my life do I deeply desire to have more knowledge? Is it personal? Like within a relationship, or dynamic at work. Or is it something a little bigger. Do you with to understand mysticism more? Deepen your spiritual practice? It could be that you want to learn a new skill or take up a new hobby? 

The Empress: How do I interact with my feminine creativity on a daily basis? Am I mindful of my divine energy? If not ask your cards, or guides, how you can bring more awareness of this energy into your everyday life. 

Death: What are you ready to let go of, but are afraid to? This is a big question. It requires that you get radically honest with yourself, but remember, nothing that is ever meant for you will lose you. 

Judgment: Make a list of all the decisions you can make, starting right now, that will move you closer to your desires. 

Take cue from this cosmic event & get way ahead of your fears. The less you resist what Scorpio is trying to show you, the more time you’ll have to use your Tauren gifts to be one step ahead of your fears. 

Eclipses are a time when patterns are set & habits are made, use this time to your advantage! Remember, the cosmos are always moving in the direction of your highest self. Trust your intuition.
